Independence
NY Spotlight Report operates with complete editorial independence. No advertiser, sponsor, publicist, or outside party has approval over our editorial content. Our coverage decisions are made solely by our editorial team based on newsworthiness, reader interest, and public importance.
We do not accept payment for coverage. We do not publish sponsored content disguised as editorial. When content is sponsored or part of an affiliate relationship, it is clearly labeled as such.
Accuracy
Every story published by NY Spotlight Report is fact-checked before publication. We verify claims through multiple sources, cross-reference public records, and give subjects of critical reporting the opportunity to respond before publication.
When we make errors — and every publication does — we correct them promptly, transparently, and in the same location as the original story. Corrections are timestamped and clearly labeled.
Sources & Attribution
We identify sources by name whenever possible. When sources request anonymity, we grant it only when:
- The information is of significant public interest
- The source faces credible risk of retaliation for speaking
- The information cannot be obtained through other means
- At least one editor knows the source's identity
We do not fabricate quotes, composite characters, or scenes. All reported dialogue was either directly witnessed by our reporter or confirmed by at least one participant.
Conflicts of Interest
Our reporters and editors disclose any personal or financial relationships that could affect their coverage. Staff members do not cover events, venues, or companies in which they hold a financial interest. Freelance contributors are held to the same standard.
Photography & Media
Photographs published by NY Spotlight Report are either taken by our staff, licensed from wire services and stock agencies, or used with permission. We do not digitally alter editorial photographs beyond standard adjustments (cropping, color correction, exposure). Photo illustrations are clearly labeled.
Right of Reply
Individuals and organizations that are the subject of critical reporting are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. This commitment to fairness is non-negotiable, regardless of deadline pressure.
Corrections Policy
If you believe NY Spotlight Report has published inaccurate information, please contact us at nyspotlightreport@gmail.com with "Correction" in the subject line. We review all correction requests within 24 hours.
